Prototype

First Draft of our Machine in a 2D picture

As you can see from the picture above, this our final product. As we’ve mentioned before on our homepage, this is the Reverse Osmosis Machine or ROM. This a prototype drawing of it. The prototype is designed to have a main pipe which will take the water through 3 semi-permeable membranes. This is will filter the water. The clean water will be stored in a water tank and then taken out through another pipe. In the other pipe there will be another semi-permeable membrane which will filter the water again to make it extra clean before it is used. There will be a drain which will take out the trash and dirty particles which were removed from the water.

How does it help reduce water pollution?

Our machine helps reduce water pollution because it filters out the dirty particles from the water and makes it clean enough for daily uses such as drinking. Reverse osmosis is a type of desalination process. It is used in water treatment, such as what our machine is doing, recycling, and it can also help in producing energy. This process has been recognized as the best way to remove dirty particles from water because of it’s ability to fully separate solids from water.

This machine makes the water clean and doesn’t harm the environment in the process. It is easy to use and will be placed at the edge of rivers. The machine’s concept has been used before in water dispensers which have been successful. So, why can’t we use it for big rivers that need their water cleaned as well? By implementing this machine in Indonesia’s rivers, we can be closer to a cleaner future.

Feedback

We asked Krakatoa 3a to give feedback on our work and here is what they said:

Fayek: It’s a great idea. This has been used before but making it larger and using for bigger projects such as the rivers is great and can really help reduce water pollution in Indonesia. I like how you guys used annotations in your drawing to make it look so detailed. Very good idea!

Fabian: It’s really detailed and well thought out. This idea can really help clean the rivers because it’s a foolproof idea. I can’t see anything wrong with it. 10/10

We only asked a few members of the group about our prototype because the others we’re busy with the video of theirs.
